SIMS training courses together with related briefings and events are all designed to keep you informed about SIMS and Data Management.

The training will enusure you gain or maintain the skills and understanding required to deliver effectively on behalf or your organisation using this key tool.

SIMS Training and Events Summer Term 2019

SIMS End of Academic Year Procedures 

NB: Must be completed before the New Academic Year starts.

Description:  This is a hands-on training session to create the new Academic year and to set up the promotion of pupils to the new year. How to create new class names and ensuring the teacher/s are linked to the correct class. The process of importing the new intakes and allocating the pupils to the correct classes. Advice will be given on how to admit the new pupils on their correct start dates. How to bulk enter the leavers end dates and destinations and create the CTF's to their new schools. Some housekeeping processes will also be covered,

SIMS in the Office for New Users

Description: Participants will be given the necessary skills to manage the core student data using SIMS. Information will also include creating quick letters and linked document, recording of Organisations and People, how to record leaver details and creating a Common Transfer File (CTF's) Knowledge of running reports will be demonstrated.

SIMS Attendance

Description: This training is the exploration of the full functionality of this module. It will cover maintaining, editing and managing attendance data. The production of attendance letters to parents and reports to analyse attendance data will be explored. 

SIMS Attendance Refresher

Description: This refresher trainingis designed for office staff with some experience of using SIMS Attendance but now wish to improve their knowledge and understanding to become a more efficient user of the module. This training will explore using functionality which saves valuable time in editing attendance data, running reports and creating letters. 

SIMS Student Quick Reports

Description: This training explores the use of the Student List Reports which include General Student lists, Class lists and Registration Group lists. These are simple list reports with basic details that can be adjusted to include further information and a specific format be defined prior to printing. Delegates will also be able to create their own templates for future use. The training also includes viewing the different file formats, for example HTML, XML and Excel. These lists can be exported into for further analysis 

SIMS Reporting on Pupil Data - Introduction

Description: This training will provide participants with the necessary skills to view and design reports on pupil data in SIMS. This will include running and previewing predefined reports, modifying existing reports and designing custom reports. Investigating the output formats in word lists, mail merge letters and labels and analysis reports. Downloading and importing reports from the Strictly Education 4S website or email attachments. Configuring My Favourite Reports panel on the Home Page.

SIMS Reporting on Pupil Data - Advanced

Description: This training will cover running and editing existing reports, designing bespoke reports(including sub reports) and creating reports using combinations of the and/or clauses. Participants will be shown how to create user-defined Word templates and produce mail merge documents. The ability to perform analysis of data held within SIMS will also be explored as will producing reports in Excel.

SIMS Discover - Pastoral Data

Description: SIMS Discover is a powerful tool that allows you to analyse your SIMS data and present it in a variety of ways, including Venn diagrams, bar charts, pie charts and line graphs. Running a series of pre-defined graphs quickly display the vast amount data held within your SIMS system. The use of drag and drop actions enable the user to easily investigate specific areas of data , enabling the identification of groups with positive or negative attributes. The creation of Dynamic Groups automatically alerts the user of pupils joining/leaving a group. This training covers the pastoral data held in SIMS. 

SIMS Behaviour Management

Description: This training will cover the Behaviour Management section of SIMS relevant to Primary Schools which includes the recording of both positive and negative behaviour. How to customise the various lookup tables within Behaviour Management to link to your own School Behaviour Policy and the production of reports to analyse the data will also be explored.

SIMS Interventions

Description: SIMS Interventions is a system to record and track underperforming students, allocate additional resources and monitor how those resources affect Key Performance Indicators. Schools are able to record the cost of the resources so that outcomes can be tracked against cost as well as impact. The process of identifying pupils who would benefit from targeted interventions is NOT part of this training. 

SIMS Special Education Needs for New Users

Desctiption: This training has been designed to support Special Educational Needs coordinators with the process of monitoring individuals who are on the SEN register. The training includes setting up details of reviews, events, provisions, relevant adults and statements. Editing lookup tables, generating letters, reporting and document management will also be explored.

School Census

Description: This School Census overview is designed for new members of staff, or those requiring a refresher of the process. It will provide participants with the necessary information to
comply with statutory requirements in order to be able to complete the School Census.

SIMS Personnel for New Users

Description: This training is for users new to the Personnel data in SIMS and how to record personal and employment information about all staff necessary for the School Workforce Census in the Autumn Term. An understanding of how to maintain and monitor staff INSET and absence data. Advice on how to create and edit pay structures and the Service Term templates. Viewing and understanding the available reports.

SIMS Personnel Refresher

Description: This training is designed for users who need a refresher on the processes within SIMS Personnel. It will explore the creating and editing of existing Service Term files in SIMS. This will include updating Pay Scale dates and Pay points and how to create school specific posts within the Service Term. The course will also advise the correct method of closing a contract, creating a new contract and cloning a contract also the process of readmitting a member of staff. Advice will be given on adding Absences for sickness or training. Delegates will also learn how to produce reports in order to check data for accuracy.

Description: This training provides users with the necessary skills to view and design reports on staff data in SIMS. This will include running and previewing predefined reports, modifying existing reports and designing custom reports. Investigating the output formats including word and excel lists, mail merge letters and labels, form and analysis reports. Downloading and importing reports from the Strictly Education 4S website or email attachments. Configuring My Favourite Reports panel on the Home Page.
