Governance Services Team
The Governance Consultancy Team are here to provide support, advice and guidance, to governors and clerks, on any matters relating to effective governance and we will be delighted to help you in any way we can.
During the current Coronavirus / Covid-19 situation, governing boards will be contemplating how to continue to ensure effective governance, whilst complying with the government guidance, designed to keep as many of us safe and healthy as possible.

The members of the team are:
Steve Barker, Head of Governance Services
Steve leads the Governance Team in supporting governors and clerks to improve outcomes for children and young people, through ensuring effective governance in all Surrey schools. Steve has many years' governance experience across all phases of education and currently chairs three governing bodies. Steve's role is to ensure that the governance team are equipped and able to support highly effective governance in Surrey schools.
Carole Ford, Clerking Service Manager
Carole is responsible for the deployment of the 4S Clerking Service and also provides advice and guidance to all clerks. Professional clerking has a vital role to play in meeting the administrative and procedural requirements of boards, contributing to effective governance.

Elaina Taylor, Governance Administrator
Elaina provides administration support to the Governance Services team, working closely with all members. Elaina's key responsibilities relate to effective and efficient co-ordination of the bespoke whole governing body training sessions and providing up-to-date training reports to evidence governors' attendance.
Andrew Lucas, HLTA Senior Assessment Administrator
Andrew co-ordinates the Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) provision. Strictly Education 4S is the assessment body for the HLTA programme in London, South East & South West England, Essex, Suffolk, Hertfordshire and part of the West Midlands. The programme has been created for teaching assistants who would benefit from professional development training to support 1:1 activities, group and whole class teaching.

Sam Williams, Strategic Governance Executive
Sam provides support in the delivery of our services to governors, clerks and those involved in school governance. The role involves researching, distilling and filtering government policy, legislation and information provided by other agencies (e.g. Ofsted, Ofqual) ensuring this is shared on a timely basis through media channels, in the main our online Better Governor, and face-to-face training events.

Sarah Judd, Clerking & Governance Administrator
Sarah supports the Clerking Service Manager in deployment of effective clerking to schools through the Service Level Agreements. She works alongside team members to ensure the smooth running of our services and helpdesk support to schools and academies.
