School Business Leader Training Package

A programme of training including courses and onsite support for all new school business leaders, enabling them to become more effective in their new role.  Package includes:

  • Four training courses covering a financial overview, financial planning, period-end procedures and financial monitoring and reporting
  • Four visits providing one-to-one support including:
    • An initial induction visit
    • Support for the first period end
    • Support for the first FMR
    • Follow up visit with a consultant

All above finance courses will be booked on behalf of the school as part of this package.

Introducing the Financial Responsibilities of Headship

Course Overview
This course is designed for Surrey maintained schools and will develop understanding of the responsibilities of the headteacher for the school budget, financial management and compliance to the financial regulations of the Surrey Scheme of Local Management. We will look at funding streams, the LA's accounting structure and reporting requirements, as well as looking at benchmarking and value for money.

Develop your understanding of Financial Accounting Processes

Course Overview
This session will cover SIMS FMS double entry bookkeeping and control accounts and the year end reconciliation process including producing the CFR. The course will demonstrate how to identify and reconcile differences in the accounts and help you to maximise the use of FMS for reporting. There will be an overview of the Local Bank Account reconciliation process and year end accruals policy and procedure.

Orovia

Orovia

Orovia is a Budget Planning Software (BPS) for Surrey Maintained Schools, the benefits of which include

  • Production of a single year budget plan and a 3-5 year forecast including scenario planning
  • Ability to set up and change salary structures, add new employees & change terms
  • Set up forecast funding & income
  • Using payroll reconciliation & salary monitoring
  • Producing management reports in conjunction with FMS

This training is provided on site, on a one-to-one basis.

This on-site training is directed at School Business Managers and would involve an initial 3 hours training session.

BACS

BACS

The BACS training will walk you through the process and provde you with all the paperwork required and ensure you have appropriate internal controls for BACS processing.

PLEASE NOTE that the training is for maintained schools and academies using SIMS FMS.

This training is provided on site, on a one-to-one basis.

This on-site training is directed at School Business Manager and would involve a 2 hour training session.
